Designed topublish.Every week.
A complete editorial and production system built for two automotive publications, two markets and a demanding weekly press cycle.
I led the art direction, hands-on design and print production. I developed the cover language, page templates, photography standards and workflows that kept a roughly 100-page publication moving.
Built for speed.
Art-directed for consistency.
Each issue balanced feature stories, dealer advertising and classified inventory. A flexible grid and repeatable production standards gave the publication a recognizable voice without making every week look the same.
One publication.Two kinds ofinformation.
Feature content and high-volume listings had different jobs, but they still had to feel like parts of the same publication.
to classified
to press.
The system moved west.
The identity evolved.
After Atlanta Cars was acquired, I relocated to help launch San Diego AutoGuide. The operating discipline carried forward; the visual language was rebuilt for a new market and regional audience.
